Ffynnonwen Farm Wild Camping

Five-pitch wild meadow camping on a Ceredigion farm where campfires are the rule, light pollution is minimal, and the hosts are genuinely invested in the place.

Ffynnonwen sits in quiet farmland outside the hamlet of Blaencelyn, about three miles from Llangrannog and within reach of the Ceredigion Coastal Path. With a maximum of five pitches and no electric hookup, this is a site that runs on solar, compost toilets, and host goodwill rather than infrastructure. You pitch where you like in the meadow, light your fire, and get on with it.

Mark and his wife keep rare breed animals on the farm and that presence is part of the experience: woolly neighbours, home-grown produce available to buy, and hosts who strike the right balance between leaving you alone and pointing you toward the good stuff nearby. The farmhouse shower is shared and pay-per-use; well water is on tap for washing and drinking water is supplied. It is low-tech by design, not by accident.

For context the coast is genuinely close. Llangrannog's beach and hidden coves are three miles away, New Quay and its dolphin-watching waters are seven, and the Ceredigion Coastal Path makes a day walk straightforward. The Blaencelyn village shop and post office is a short walk, and Brynhoffnant supermarkets are ten minutes by car for anything more. Cardigan is 25 minutes if you need a proper town.

Before you book

  • Host availability can be variable: arrive with the site phone number saved and a contingency plan if contact is slow.
  • Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times given sheep and rare breed animals on site.
Ffynnonwen earns its place as one of those rare genuine wild-meadow pitches: the campfire is compulsory, the stars are real, and the hosts have made the land worth caring about.
