Dolau Afon Campsite
A riverside husband-and-wife campsite in the Cambrian Mountains with a fire pit on every pitch, dark skies overhead, and the Ystwyth a few steps from your tent.
Dolau Afon sits beside the Ystwyth river in a fold of the Cambrian Mountains that locals have long called Little Switzerland. The valley earns the name: birdsong at dawn, a glowing sunrise climbing the hillside, and at night a sky so dark that the Milky Way needs no effort to find. The campsite holds International Dark Sky Area designation, and on a clear night it delivers.
Every pitch comes with its own fire pit, and the patio pitches add a picnic bench and hammock. The river runs along the bottom of the field with a natural bathing spot for swimming and paddling. The Ystwyth Trail starts 20 metres from the gate; Sustrans National Cycling routes 81 and 82 pass the door. For days out, Devils Bridge and the Hafod Estate are close, and Aberystwyth is 9 miles west.
The facilities are looked after with obvious care: showers and toilets consistently praised as spotlessly clean. Grass and hardstanding pitches both available, with electric hook-up. The owners are hands-on and easy to talk to. Dogs are welcome with a two-dog limit per pitch.
Before you book
