One Cat Farm

Four hand-built cabins in a re-wilded Ceredigion valley, where wood-fired baths, pond swimming, and Milky Way skies do the talking.

One Cat Farm sits in a secluded valley in mid-west Wales, equidistant between the Cambrian Mountains to the east and the hidden coves of Cardigan Bay to the west. Hosts Jessie and Lyndon have spent years re-wilding the 3-acre site, and the result is four thoughtfully made cabins that feel genuinely handcrafted rather than kit-built: your name on the door, a wheelbarrow waiting for your bags, a fat bundle of firewood already stacked.

The communal campfire draws guests together in the evenings, but the wood-heated outdoor bath is the real pull, a long soak under open sky with the hills rolling away in every direction. Swim in the on-site pond, borrow a jigsaw from the cabin, spot bats at dusk or hedgehogs after dark. The Milky Way is visible on clear nights from the valley floor. Aberaeron harbour town is five minutes by car, and the Llanerchaeron National Trust estate is two minutes away on foot along the footpath.

The cabins are well-equipped: comfortable beds, OS maps, stacks of books, their own bathroom. This is off-grid in the real sense: no electric hookup, no mains at the pitch, no phone signal to speak of. Families with children find the rope swings and hammocks more than compensation. Couples who want seclusion and a genuinely considered space will find it hard to leave.

Before you book

  • The drive in is steep, approach carefully and check with Jessie and Lyndon if you are unsure about your vehicle.
  • Phone signal is limited in the valley; plan ahead for anything that needs connectivity.
A genuinely off-grid glamping site in one of the most unspoilt pockets of Ceredigion, built with care by two people who clearly love the land they are stewarding.

Why it made the cut

  • Hand-built cabins with a properly soulful feel, not a templated pod-park operation
  • Wild swimming, wood-fired outdoor baths, and dark skies all on or from the site
  • Host attention to detail is exceptional: name signs, firewood bundles, OS maps, local guides
  • Location earns its remoteness: Cambrian Mountains, Cardigan Bay, and Llanerchaeron all within reach
