Ewe Love Camping Pods
Three handmade pods on a working Lake District hill farm, with Blencathra filling the view and dark skies overhead.
Ewe Love sits on a working hill farm midway between Penrith and Keswick, at an elevation that puts Blencathra directly in your eyeline. The three locally-made pods are small enough to feel considered: underfloor heating, a compact wet room, a decked area with fire pit and BBQ, and views that the owner's own photography cannot fully resolve. On clear nights, the light pollution is low enough for proper star-gazing, and the owls are audible from the bed.
Owner Can runs a tight, thoughtful operation. The pods come stocked with hot drinks, biscuits and milk; the bed is a proper double; the fire pit has firewood available. You are genuinely away from the crowds here: the access track is single-lane, the neighbours are sheep, and the North Lakes attractions (Ullswater, Aira Force, Keswick) are reachable by car without the usual summer scrum. Fell walks leave directly from the pod: the old coach road via Matterdale Common is a solid half-day.
Before you book
- Access is via a single-track lane, fine in a car, worth knowing before you arrive.
- The wet room is compact (shower over toilet), functional but not spacious.
“A small-scale, owner-run glamping operation in the Lake District National Park where the setting does the heavy lifting: Blencathra views, dark skies, direct fell access, and a host who clearly gives a damn.”
