Caldbeck Camping
A fire-pit-on-every-pitch riverside campsite in a Cumbrian fell village, with the Cumbria Way on your doorstep and the River Cald Beck audible from your tent.
Caldbeck Camping sits in the middle of Caldbeck village in the Northern Fells, with the River Cald Beck running alongside the pitches and High Pike and Carrock Fell rising behind. Owner Val runs the site with evident care: pitches are clean, facilities are kept to a good standard, and the layout has been thought through so even a busy weekend feels quieter than it has any right to be.
Every pitch comes with a fire pit, and wood is available from the village store a short walk away. A handful of pitches have electric hookup; others are grass-only. For those who'd rather not pitch a tent, there is a yurt and a wooden hut on site. Shower rooms, toilets, and a wash cabin are available, and recycling facilities are on site too. The River Cald Beck runs parallel to the camping field, and the sound of it carries well enough to soften any ambient noise.
The Cumbria Way passes through, making Caldbeck Camping a natural last-night base for long-distance walkers. For day walks, High Pike and Carrock Fell are accessible directly from the village. Back on site, the pub, a shop, and two cafes are all within easy walking distance, each reported to be well worth the short trip. Dogs are not accepted at this site.
