Cerenety Camp Site
Rustic, eco-minded camping a five-minute walk from a quiet Cornish beach, with compost loos, solar showers, and communal fires under genuinely dark skies.
Cerenety earns its reputation through conviction, not polish. The compost toilets are the real thing - sawdust and all - the showers run on solar, and the fire pits are loaned out communally rather than one-per-pitch. If you want hook-ups and a spotless ablutions block, this isn't your site. If you want a low-impact coastal base in Cornwall run by someone who actually cares about the land, it's hard to beat.
The site sits on Lynstone Road, a narrow lane on the southern fringe of Bude. A quiet beach is a five-minute wander down country lanes, the South West Coast Path runs nearby, and the canal into town gives you a flat walk to Bude's shops, cafes, and the famous sea pool. Candy, the host, is a known presence on site - the kind of owner who lends fire pits and gives you local knowledge on surf beaches, picnic spots, and pubs. A small pond at the back, along with horses, alpacas, and cats, adds to the farm-adjacent feel without it being a farm.
Pitches are grass across two fields. The lane approaching is tight - reviews consistently flag it as a squeeze for anything larger than a small campervan or Transit-size van, so plan accordingly. Facilities are basic by intention: a washing-up station, compost loos, hot solar showers. The site runs from March to November, with high season July to early September plus Easter and bank holidays. Dogs are welcome.
Before you book
- The access lane is very narrow - only suitable for small campervans and day vans; larger motorhomes and caravans will struggle to reach the site.
- Facilities are genuinely basic eco provision: compost toilets, solar showers, no mains hook-up. Read reviews before booking if this matters to you.
“A no-frills eco coastal base that backs up its ethos with actual conviction - compost loos, solar showers, communal fires, and a host who makes it work.”
