Black Isle Yurts
Hand-built yurts and a geodome in private birch woodland on an 80-acre cliff-top farm, with direct paths to secluded beaches on the Moray Firth.
Black Isle Yurts sits on the southern shores of the Black Isle, on a working farm that backs directly onto dramatic coastal cliffs. The yurts and geodome are individually hand-built and spaced through native birch woodland, each with a wood burner and bedding included. A short cliff-path walk leads to a secluded beach that rarely sees another soul. Host Jenny is the kind of owner who knows the local area properly and is present without hovering.
The farm has an SSSI designation and the wider peninsula is one of the driest, sunniest corners of Scotland, with notably fewer midges than neighbouring areas. Chanonry Point, a short drive away in Fortrose, is one of the best land-based dolphin-watching spots in Britain, with Moray Firth bottlenose dolphins frequent in the summer months. Ecoventures run wildlife boat trips from Cromarty nearby. Red Rock Trails mountain biking is adjacent to the site.
The communal hub houses clean showers, toilets, and washing-up space, and has panoramic views over the Moray Firth from its position up through the woodland. Inverness is a 35-minute drive, with the historic towns of Cromarty, Fortrose, and Rosemarkie each reachable in minutes. The site sits on the North Coast 500 route, making it a natural base for longer touring.
Before you book
