Bedruthan House Camping

A clifftop field above the North Cornish Atlantic, run by owners who understand that the view is the facility.

Bedruthan House Camping sits on the cliff edge between Padstow and Newquay, with the South West Coast Path running a few metres below and sea stacks visible from your pitch. The 14 acres face the Atlantic, and on a clear evening the sun drops directly into the ocean: no trees, no hills, nothing in the way.

George and Victoria run it with the kind of low-key authority that makes a campsite feel calm rather than policed. Alongside the grass tent and motorhome pitches, there are eco tipis and shepherd huts for those who want walls. The on-site sauna is operated by a neighbouring team, overlooking the same ocean view, available by the half-hour. Food trucks serve crepes and smash burgers; there's live music on occasion. It is, by some margin, more than the basics.

From the site you can walk south to Mawgan Porth beach (around 20 minutes) or north to Porthcothan along the coast path. Bedruthan Steps beach and its famous sea stacks are close by. The site runs as a Dark Sky Discovery site, which means the nights are as worthwhile as the sunsets.

This is a summer-only operation, open late June through August, which suits the clifftop exposure: the same openness that gives you those views makes it bracing off-season.

Before you book

  • No beach access directly from the site; the nearest beaches require a coastal walk or short drive.
  • Summer-only: open 26 June to 31 August.
One of the finest clifftop positions on the North Cornish coast, held together by owners who get the balance right between looking after the place and letting the landscape do the work.

Why it made the cut

  • Direct Atlantic views from every pitch, with the South West Coast Path immediately below
  • Owner-present, independently run with real character and no holiday-park pretence
  • On-site sauna, food trucks, and occasional live music without tipping into resort feel
