Achindarroch Touring Park

A well-run Highland touring base in Glen Duror, between Oban and Fort William, with Glen Coe and Ben Nevis on the doorstep.

Achindarroch sits at the foot of Glen Duror in Lochaber, tucked into the valley with the surrounding Highland scenery doing most of the heavy lifting. The site positions you squarely between Oban and Fort William, which makes it one of the most practical launching pads in the western Highlands: Glen Coe is close enough for a day walk, Ben Nevis and the Nevis Range are within easy reach, and the Jacobite Steam Train departure point at Fort William is a short drive north.

The 40 pitches are kept in good order, and the facilities are solid touring-park fare: showers, toilets, electric hookup, laundry, and WiFi. Two camping pods offer a step up for those who'd rather not put up a tent in a Highland downpour. Owners Anne and Dick are present on site, and the place is maintained to a high standard. For tourers and motorhome owners who want a clean, reliable base from which to do the western Highlands properly, it earns its place on the list.

Cuil Bay is a short drive south for an atmospheric stretch of coast, and the surrounding glen offers walking straight from the pitch. The valley setting means you're sheltered from the worst of the wind, and the site feels genuinely quiet in the evenings.
