New Wharf Campsite

A working West Sussex farm where the River Adur runs past your pitch, the Friday pizza van is genuinely worth staying for, and the field belongs to the guests once cars are left at the gate.

New Wharf sits on the River Adur in West Sussex, inside fields of long grass and wildflowers that feel properly agricultural rather than groomed. Pitches are spread across the farm with secluded spots overlooking the countryside, and toilet and shower facilities are distributed across the site rather than bunched in a block, which makes the whole thing feel less like a campsite and more like borrowing a corner of someone's land.

Private river access is a short walk from the pitches. Kayaking is possible from the bank, and reviewers describe waking up to cuckoos. The Downs Link trail runs from the site into the South Downs National Park, and local footpaths and bridleways extend in every direction. The coast is fifteen minutes' drive; Brighton is thirty-five.

Ellie and Ed run the place with visible care: fire pits are available for hire with logs, go-karts and tyre swings keep younger guests occupied, and on Friday evenings the pizza van arrives. Bucket showers are an option alongside the regular facilities. Shepherd huts and bell tents are available for glampers who'd rather not bring their own kit. Cars stay off the field.
