Mattiscombe sits on high ground above the South Devon coast, looking out over Start Bay from open fields that are still, genuinely, a working beef and arable farm. The 29 pitches ring two large fields, which means almost every camper gets an unobstructed line of sight to the sea. This is a back-to-basics site: composting loos, warm showers, fire pits, and the kind of space that lets kids roam without fences.

Ben and the family run the place with obvious pride. Reviewers who return year after year are not returning for the facilities.
