Malting Farm Cabins & Treehouses

A 300-acre working Essex farm where treehouses, cabins and bell tents come with homemade cake on arrival and hot tubs on the deck.

Malting Farm sits in a secluded meadow on a 300-acre family farm in Little Bentley, North East Essex, about 90 minutes from London. Three luxury cabins, four bell tents and two treehouses are spread across the grounds with enough space between them to feel genuinely private. The farm is alive around you: pheasants, hares and deer pass through regularly, and guests are invited to feed the animals with the owners, Emma and Sammy.

The owners have put real thought into arrival: a homemade cake waits in the kitchen, and an honesty shop on site keeps essentials and extras covered. Hot tubs are available for cabin guests, there is a zip wire and nature trail for children, and a small lake on the property that some guests take a cold dip in. It is the kind of place where the itinerary dissolves almost immediately.

The farm is a strong base for the Essex and Suffolk borderlands. The Essex and Suffolk coastline is within easy reach for a day out to Frinton-on-Sea or Brightlingsea, and Colchester with its castle and town centre is close by. Local restaurant recommendations are provided by the hosts, including a well-regarded Italian about ten minutes away. Adults only in the evenings, quiet and unhurried.
