Larick Campsite
Gateway to Tentsmuir's four miles of sandy beach, with dolphin sightings, Red Squirrels, and the Fife Coastal Path running past the gate.
Larick sits on the coast at Tayport, right at the northern entrance to Tentsmuir Forest, with the Fife Coastal Path, National Cycle Route 1, and the Coast and Castles cycle route all passing the gate. The forest itself is the draw: a National Nature Reserve with a four-mile sandy beach, red squirrel trails, sea eagle sightings, and the Tay Estuary just beyond, bottlenose dolphins return seasonally to the sandbanks at Tentsmuir Point.
The site is family-run and small enough that the owners know your name by the second morning. Pitches are open to tents, caravans, and motorhomes; facilities are kept to a standard that impresses people used to far more expensive sites, spotless heated shower block, laundry and drying room, shop on site, and a community cafe next door. A playground keeps younger kids occupied, and the site is compact enough that children can wander freely. Budget pricing from £15 a night keeps the mix of guests sensible.
Dundee is four miles away (there is a bus stop outside the gate) and St Andrews is twelve miles south, so wet-weather days are well covered. For walkers and cyclists this is a launching pad, not a bolt-hole. Scotscraig Golf Club is across the road; the Harbour Cafe and Bellrock Tavern are both reachable on foot along the seawall.
