Hidden Valley Camping
A nine-acre ancient orchard in the Teme Valley where the nearly-wild pitches feel genuinely earned and the stargazing is the whole point.
Hidden Valley Camping sits on a working farm in the Teme Valley, tucked into an east-facing orchard slope that catches the morning light and shields the pitches from the wider world. There are two modes here: the bell tents, which are proper glamping with care and thought in every detail, and the nearly-wild pitches down in the valley floor, where you wheelbarrow your kit to your chosen spot and that's the last decision made for you.
The orchard is ancient and nine acres of it, bordered by woodland and a stream, and the wildlife reflects that: badgers, foxes, muntjac and fallow deer, buzzards, sparrow hawks, and red kites overhead. After dark the skies are the reward, inky and unhurried, with minimal light pollution. The dawn chorus starts early and means business.
Simon, the host, introduces himself and then leaves you to it, which is exactly right. Facilities are minimal by design: compost loos, a solar shower, a washing-up area with soap and sponges, drinking water, an honesty shop for forgotten essentials, fire pits, and wheelbarrows. No mains electricity anywhere on site. The nearest town is Tenbury Wells; Ludlow, Great Malvern, Ledbury, and Brockhampton Estate are within 45 minutes, along with walking country in the Forest of Wyre and the Malvern Hills beyond.
Before you book
- The nearly-wild pitches require a wheelbarrow walk down into the valley to reach your spot.
- No mains electricity anywhere on site.
“One of the most honest takes on low-impact camping in the Midlands: ancient orchard, real dark skies, a host who earns your trust then gets out of the way.”
Why it made the cut
- Ancient nine-acre orchard with genuine wildlife and dark skies, not a field dressed up as one
- Two distinct camping modes, from nearly-wild valley pitches to well-appointed bell tents, each coherent on their own terms
- Host Simon's light-touch presence is a model of what owner-run means at its best
- Low-impact by conviction, not marketing: no mains electricity, compost loos, solar showers
