Picket Pods sits on a working farm outside Llandow, a short drive from Cowbridge, with 100 acres of open pastureland to roam and a wooded corner the kids tend to claim for themselves. The seven timber pods are fully insulated and double-glazed, each with a pull-out double bed, a private balcony, and a paved outdoor area with a picnic bench. Shared facilities include a shower and toilet block and a well-equipped kitchen with appliances and crockery.

The setting does quiet work: the Glamorgan Heritage Coast is nearby, with rugged beaches at Southerndown and Llantwit Major reachable for a day trip, and the pubs in the village of Wick are less than a mile away on foot across the fields. Cardiff is 17 miles east if you want a city fix, but the draw here is the opposite direction. Reviews repeatedly single out the serenity and the freedom to let children run.

Owner Alison is on hand to welcome guests, which gives the place a genuinely hosted feel rather than a key-in-lockbox operation. The campfire area is a fixture of the evening routine. It is small enough that groups often find themselves with the whole site to themselves.
